Blackburn College Selects Newest Hall of Fame Induction Class
CARLINVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College and Blackburn Athletics have announced the 2025 Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Class.
CARLINVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College and Blackburn Athletics have announced the newest Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Class. The induction class features former student athletes Phil Fecteau, Zeb Hammond, Nicole Gladish Logan, Randy Kimbrough, former cross country and track & field coach Charlie Pohlman and the 2004-05 and 2005-06 men's basketball teams.
Phil Fecteau was a four-year dual-sport athlete as he played both golf and basketball for the Beavers. A 1978 graduate, Fecteau was a four-time team MVP for the golf team and earned all-conference recognition three times. A two-time team captain, he also was a conference medalist during his career. After leave BC, he became a PGA of America Golf Instructor and holds the course record at four different golf courses. In 1998 he was named the New England PGA Teacher of the Year. He has also served as the Women's Golf Coach at St. Andrews University. His coaching career includes 450 of his students who played collegiate golf while 70 went on to become golf professionals.
Zeb Hammond played for the men's basketball team for two seasons and was a key component on both teams. During his first season in 2005-06, Hammond earned First Team All-St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors and helped guide the team to a 2005-06 SLIAC Regular Season Championship. He followed it with another First Team All-SLIAC selection the next season. In his career with the Beavers, he averaged 16.7 points per game, totaling 834 points in two seasons. He finished his time with 156 three's shooting 43% from the arc, which puts him 10th in league history. He also dished out 87 assists with 174 rebounds, 44 steals, and 34 blocked shots.
Nicole (Gladish) Logan was a standout player for the women's basketball and softball teams. She holds the school record with 112 made three-pointers, is third all-time in school history with 1,314 points and fourth with 162 steals from her four-year career with the basketball team. She was a two-time team most valuable player and was named First Team All-SLIAC for the 2002-03 season and Second Team All-Conference in 2003-04. In softball, she was named First Team All-SLIAC two times. During her senior year, she also served as Manager of the Library as her on-campus job and graduated with a double major of accounting and business management. After graduating, she went on to work as a paraprofessional for Midstate Special Education and has coached basketball at Mt. Olive High School and Softball at Litchfield High School.
Randy Kimbrough was a member of the men's basketball team prior to his 1991 graduation. As a three-year starter, he scored 827 and dished out a school record 449 assists and earned three All-Conference selections. He also earned two team MVP selections as well. During his time as a starter, the team went 62-21 with two conference championships, including the only Blackburn team to go undefeated in conference play and helped guide the team to a 19-5 record in the 1989-90 season.
Charlie Pohlman served as the Cross Country Head Coach starting in 1987 and added the Track & Field Head Coach role in 1990 and continued in these roles until 2001. In cross country, he led the Beavers to the 1989 Prairie College Conference Championship and to a second-place finish in the 1995 SLIAC Championship. He coached numerous athletes to personal bests and post-collegiate success. After leaving Blackburn in 2001, he continued his coaching career locally at Girard and North Mac High Schools. He also served as the race director of the Gillespie Black Diamond Days 5k in a role he served in for 38 years. His impact in the local running community was highlighted in 2017 when he was honored with the "ALS 5K: Running with Mr. Pohlman" in an event that celebrated his legacy and resilience after being diagnosed with ALS. Coach Pohlman passed away in 2018.
The 2004-05 and 2005-06 men's basketball round out the 2005 induction class. The 2004-05 team captured the SLIAC Tournament Championship and reached the NCAA Tournament as they finished the year 18-10 overall with a 10-4 SLIAC record. Luka Djedovic was named SLIAC Player of the year and was All-American Honorable Mention while John Essington and Cory Waters earned SLIAC All-Conference recognition. Essington and Waters were named to the SLIAC All-Tournament team with Waters earning Tournament MVP. Djedovic sank 155 free throws which places him fifth in conference history. Four players averaged double-figures, led by Djedovic with 15.5 points per game. Essington and Nick Barnett scored 11.8 while Waters added 11.2 points a game. The team averaged 66 points a game while shooting 41% from the field and 35% from three.
The 2005-06 team hosted the SLIAC Tournament after winning the regular season title by going 14-11 for the season went 11-3 in SLIAC play. Zak Allan was SLIAC Player of the Year named an All-American Honorable Mention. Zeb Hammond also earned First Team All-SLIAC while Djedovic earned All-Conference honors as well Head Coach Dave Kaneshiro also earned Coach of the Year honors in 2005-06. The team lead the league in three-point percentage by shooting 39.6% from the arc, which puts the team ninth all-time. Allan found himself on the SLIAC All-Tournament team. Averaging 66 points per game, the Beavers shot 43% from the field and 74% from the free throw line. Hammond led the squad with 15.4 points a game while Djedovic scored 12.6 and Allan was at 11.8. Allan also led the team with 113 assists with 34 steals and 15 blocks.
The 2026 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on March 21 from 5-730 pm in Woodson Hall. Tickets will go on sale this winter.
