Fuhrhop Named Conference Player of the Year

Blackburn College junior outfielder, Donny Fuhrhop (St. Jacob, Illinois/Triad HS) has been named the 2013 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year.  Fuhrhop batted .440 in conference games and hit .386 overall.  In league play, Fuhrhop had 37 hits, six doubles, two triples, and two homeruns. Fuhrhop also had a .495 on base percentage and a .607 slugging percentage.  Fuhrhop is Blackburn’s all-time record holder for triples in a season and for a career after just three years.  The award is voted on by the conference baseball coaches.

Fuhrhop becomes the second Blackburn College player to be named conference player of the year along with Tony Etnier in 2002.  This summer Fuhrhop will be playing with the Richmond Indiana River Rats in the Prospect League.

“I am very proud of Donny and this accomplishment, said Blackburn Head Baseball Coach Mike Neal.  “Donny’s tremendous amount of hard work has paid off and he continues to improve, which is very exciting for a coach to have the privilege to watch,” added Neal.
