Beavers Get First Win in Slugfest

The Blackburn College Baseball Team won their first game of the year by a whopping score of 18-11 over Loyola University-New Orleans on Wednesday night. With rain coming down on and off throughout the game, the Beavers collected fifteen total hits and used seven diferent pitchers to complete the victory.

Kelan Doria led the way by reaching base six times and throwing two scorless innings to end the game. Aaron Moody had three hits and Brock Hill had four, including four runs scored. Matt Mokriakow had two hits and four RBI and Tylor Klipfel also had four RBI.

The Beavers got things going right off the bat in the first inning by putting up six runs and tacking one more on in the third. Loyola answered with six runs of their own through their first three innings to only trail Blackburn by one.

Five more runs came the Beavers way in the sixth inning and then six more in he eighth to put the game out of reach. The Wolfpack tried to comeback with five more runs total in the sixth and seventh but it wasn't enough.

Blackburn pitchers Tim Hillis, Dillon Hensley, Marcus Kelly, Jacob Whitcomb, Jared Jones, Jarrett Luckett, and Kelan Doria combined for the win on the hill. The Beavers are now 1-4 and will play a three game set against Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi this weekend.
