Baseball Hires Two Assistant Coaches For Spring

Blackburn College has announced the hiring of two assistant baseball coaches for the 2015 season.  Daniel Sharp and Jonathan Harris will join the program this January to help coach the largest baseball roster in school history.  Sharp comes to Blackburn as a graduate of Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee.  A former pitcher, Sharp will be the pitching coach for Blackburn this spring. Sharp has one year experience pitching in the independent Pecos League for the Trinidad Triggers.  Harris, a former catcher at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, where he was three-year starter.  Harris will coach hitters and catchers and will be the recruiting coordinator for the Beavers.  Harris also played one year of professional baseball for the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League and for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings of the United League.

“Both Daniel and Jonathan were highly recommended by college coaches they either played for or coached under, and will bring experience well above their ages,” said Blackburn Head Baseball Coach Mike Neal.   “These guys are going to have a great impact in our program, both are extremely bright young coaches.  I know they are excited to be here and I'm very excited to have them join us," added Neal.
