Tyler Durand Named Baseball MVP

Blackburn College Junior Tyler Durand was named the most valuable player on the 2017 Blackburn College Baseball Team.  Durand, from Mt. Zion, Illinois hit .319 on the season and led the team with four homeruns and 23 runs batted in.  Durand also recorded a 3.46 earned run average and also recorded one save.

Other award winners were Jonathan "Bubby" Stepp who earned the Top Newcomer Award. Stepp's outstanding first season included the first ever no-hitter in Blackburn College history when he no-hit Eureka College.  Right handed pitcher Lowell Schwartz earned the team's Most Improved Award.
