The Blackburn College Baseball Team committed six errors in game one of a doubleheader loss to Westminster College on Tuesday in Carlinville which led to a 10-3 loss.  The Beavers kicked it around and wasted a good mound performance from Jonathan Stepp.  Blackburn jumped out to a 3-0 first inning lead.  The highlight of the inning was on the defensive side as Walter Jarvis made a falling down barehanded catch on the warning track to prevent Westminster from taking an early lead.

After the three-run first things went downhill as the Blue Jays plated four unearned runs to take a 4-3 lead after four innings.  As Stepp's pitch count climbed, Blackburn had to go to the bullpen and Westminster scored six runs in the final two innings to complete the game one win.

Game two was a classic pitching duel as Blayten Magana for Blackburn and Sam Huesgen for Westminster both pitched masterful complete games.  Westminster scored two runs in the first inning and made them stand up for a 2-1 victory.  Magana struck out nine and walked two.

"This was a very disappointing day for us, we played horrendous defense in game one and then didn't make adjustments at the plate in game two, wasting a dominant performance by Blayten Magana," said Blackburn Coach Mike Neal.
