Beavers Fall in First Two of Three Game Series

The Beavers lost the first two of a three game series against MacMurray. In the first game, Blackburn battled with the Highlanders into the seventh inning with the visitors holding to a one run lead and the score sitting at two to one. The MacMurray hitters became highly aggressive and took advantage of miscues on the part of the home team and put up eight runs. The Beavers were unable to answer back in the bottom of the seventh and lost ten to one. Steven Diaz (15) scored the lone run for Blackburn on a sacrifice RBI from Ryan Steen (25) to the right fielder in the sixth inning. Tyler Durand (8) pitched 6.2 innings with five earned runs, five walks, and three strikeouts. Dillon Hensley (20) pitched .1 innings with no earned runs.

In the second game, the Beavers fell in seven with MacMurray scoring 14 runs and defeating the home team 14-1. Isaac Garrett (14) started the game for the Beavers, making his conference debut. Coming off a solid start against Southwestern, Garrett was able to give the Beavers four solid innings but the defense behind Garrett forced his pitch total up and he was relieved in the fifth by Lowell Schwartz (10). Schwartz pitched one inning, followed by Dalton Fisher (12), and Will Seaton (23). Fisher and Seaton both threw an inning with Fisher taking the sixth and Seaton the seventh. Blackburn's lone run again was scored on a sacrifice to right with Fisher scoring the run and Shane Lewis (3) recording the RBI.
