Beavers Split Against Eureka

The Beavers split their two game series against the Eureka Red Devils losing the first 6-4 and winning the second 9-2. Blackburn battled hard the first game and held the game at a 4-4 tie before the Red Devils were able to put up two runs that secured the loss as the home hitters were unable to answer back. The weather heavily affected the games on the day with strong winds blowing in from center field that deadened hard hit balls make the series a battle of defenses. As a result, the Beaver defense answered strongly in game two with Brady Wilkinson (35) pitching 6.1 innings in his start and giving up two earned runs. His quality start kept Blackburn in the game as he was relieved by Jonathan "Bubby" Stepp (5) in the top of the seventh with runners on. Stepp struck out the first two batters he faced to give the home offense a chance trailing 2-0. The offense came alive for the home team with Christian Padilla (1) leading the way with 4 RBIs in the inning on two hits. Also recording RBIs in the inning were Shane Lewis (3), Steven Diaz (15), Michael McDermand (34) with one RBI each, and Tyler Durand (8) with two. Stepp would pitch a scoreless eighth and Dalton Fisher (12) would relieve him with a shutout ninth to secure the Beavers fifth win in the SLIAC and their seventh overall.
