2018 Senior Day
2018 Senior Day

The home team took the victory on the Blackburn 2018 Senior Night, defeating Lincoln Christian 2-1. However, it was the incredible pitching of of Lowell Schwartz (10) that carried the Beavers on the day. Schwartz got his first start against the visiting Lincoln Christian and pitched 7 innings with a quality start on just 102 pitches. Schwartz gave up just 4 hits and 2 walks in the start as well as only allowing a solitary earned run. He also recorded 7 strikeouts and turned a double play after catching a line drive back to the mound. Schwartz performance was nothing short of fantastic and he earned his first win in a true pitchers duel. The Beavers run production came in the form of two sacrifice RBIs from Shane Lewis (3) and Walter Jarvis (27) each recording a SAC RBI. The runs were scored by Steven Diaz (15) who had two stolen bases and two hits, and Brandon Smith (2). Diaz tied with Jake Lochhead (32) for the team lead in hits (2) and stolen bases (2). Dalton Fisher (12) relieved Schwartz and recorded a scoreless three up-three down inning. In the ninth, the Beavers turned to Dillon Hensley (20), one of the honored seniors. Hensley pitched a scoreless inning to get the save ensure the win for Blackburn. The home team's seniors battled hard for the victory behind Schwartz in the final home game of their careers.

The 2018 seniors exemplify the definition of what hard work can accomplish through both in class time, and in their performance on the field. They more than set an example for what it means to be a Blackburn student and their experience, hard work, leadership, and example will be sorely missed. Brady Wilkinson (35), Walter Jarvis (27), Brandon Smith (2), Jarrett Sandlin (21), Jake Lochhead (32), Dillon Hensley (20), Shane Lewis (3), and Tyler Durand (8), thank you for the time that you put into the program and for setting an example for the future. You will be greatly missed. Thank you and God bless.
