The Blackburn College Men's Basketball Team came right out of the gate firing on all cylinders Saturday afternoon, as they battled defending St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion Westminster.  The Beavers were in control the entire first half playing with a lead as big as 12.  Blackburn closed out the first half on a 5-2 run featuring another dunk by Brandon Hill to put the Beavers up nine 37-28.

In the second half, the men came out sluggish as Westminster tied the game up at 46.  Sophomore Jon Lowry came alive behind the arc going five of eight to help Blackburn pull ahead to a seven point lead.  Yet Westminster continued to chip away and tied the game up 72-72 of a three pointer with less than two minutes remaining.

Blackburn, down 74-72, called a timeout to set up the buzzer beater but was shut down on the inbound pass and forced them to send Westminster to the free throw line.  Westminster capitalized and put the game away by a score of 76-72.

Brandon Hill scored a season high 20 for the Beavers as Jon Lowry scored all of his career high 15 points from behind the three point line. Brandon Adams grabbed 12 rebounds.  With the season coming to a close, the men's team will head over to MacMurray College on February 13.
