Men's Basketball Loses In Game of Runs

The Blackburn College Men’s Basketball Team lost a tough non-conference game on Saturday afternoon. The game was played at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois. The Millikin University Big Blue defeated the Beavers by a score of 93-77.

The game started off with the two teams going back and forth. This continued until there was 11:37 left in the first half and the score was 18-16 with Millikin in the lead. Millikin then went on a 9-0 run. Blackburn quickly countered this run with a 16-4 run, which gave them a one point lead (32-31). The half ended on another Millikin run. The half time score was 51-37 with Millikin on top.

The second half was like the first as it seemed to be a game of runs. The Beavers battled back from their 14 point deficit at the half but could only bring the score to within six (61-55). The game ended with the Big Blue of Millikin University over the Blackburn Beavers with a score of 93-77.

Blackburn had three players in double digit scoring. Jon Lowry had 18, Jamie Moore had 18, and Chris Davis had 17. Millikin University’s starting five were all in double digit scoring.

This loss puts Blackburn at 0-5 on the season. The men’s team will take the court again on Wednesday, December 4 at Fontbonne University for the first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game of the young season. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
