Red Devils Get Best of Beavers

The Blackburn College Women's Basketball Team was defeated by Eureka College on Wednesday night by a score of 69-42.

The Beavers got off to a slow start and couldn't quite come back from the huge deficit. The score at halftime had the Beavers down 45-21. Blackburn played with Eureka after the intermission, only trailing 24-21 in the second half.

Briana Rae recorded another double-double, making it her ninth of the season. She posted 16 points with 11 rebounds. Her teammate Ciara Morgan led the team in scoring with 14 and also grabbed 12 boards.

Both teams were not afraid of taking shots tonight. Blackburn was 15-59 from the field while the Red Devils made 22 of their 73 shots. Sixteen of Blackburn's shots came from beyond the arc, but only one of them managed to find its way through the hoop. Eureka fired up a whopping 28 three-point attempts and they converted on nine of those.

Caty Eeten(17), Jenna Brooks(12), and Kelsey Shoemake(11) of Eureka all put up double-digit scoring efforts in tonight's game. Shoemake also had 13 rebounds.

Blackburn will continue their six-game homestand by hosting Spalding University this Saturday at 1:00 PM. Spalding is 7-1 in SLIAC play while Blackburn is 2-6.
