Gorloks Handle Beavers With Ease

By: Aaron Moody - Blackburn Sports Information

It was a difficult night of basketball in Carlinville for the men on Wednesday evening, as the Gorloks of Webster University came in and dominated in a 73-45 route.  The Beavers struggled to dissect the paint against a very tall Webster post.  The Beavers also put themselves at a disadvantage, by turning the ball over 24 times.  At the half, Blackburn trailed 32-18.

The silver lining for Blackburn was the outstanding play by Jamie Moore who scored eleven of the team’s first thirteen points.  He would go on to finish with 15 points and 9 rebounds.  The Beavers also struggled to get to the free throw line, shooting five of six which was their fewest attempts this season.

The Gorloks out rebounded the Beavers 35-28 while also outshooting them for the game 45% to 37%.  Yet the Beavers had a better night at the free throw line shooting 83% to Webster’s 66% (12-18).

Next up for Blackburn will be Westminster College on February 1st coming to Carlinville for the fourth game of their current six-game home stand.
