Beavers Feast on Illinois Tech to Get First Win

The Blackburn College Men's Basketball Team defeated the visitors from Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon by a 81-68 score. 

The Beavers earned their first win of the season with a very convincing second half. After only leading by one point at the break, Blackburn outscored Illinois Tech by twelve in half number two. The defense was all over the place picking up loose balls and forcing turnovers. Illininois Tech fumbled over 29 turnovers, good for 17 Blackburn steals.

Junior Chris J. Davis led Blackburn with 16 points and six rebounds as well as five assists. Three other Beavers scored double digits: Tommy Ulinski (13), Willie Orange (12), and Reed Rusten (12). Ulinski also led the team with six assists. Six other Blackburn players earned their way on the scoresheet. 

For Illinois Tech, they relied on the inside game of Samuel Rarick. He kept the team in the game with a 42-point effort to go along with twelve rebounds.

Blackburn will continue their homestand as conference play opens up next Wednesday. The rival Highlanders from MacMurray come to Carlinville for a 8:00 PM tip-off.
