Blackburn Struggles In Loss To Capital

Traveling 7 hours to play in Tennessee, the Beavers were looking forward to the chance to compete this weekend. The Beavers had a 2-0 lead off a Jamie Moore jumper at the 18:46 mark but that would be the only time they held a lead. Michael Green hit a 3 to give Capital a 3-2 lead and they never looked back.

From the start, Capital played at the tempo they wanted and were aggressive. They successfully ran offense and were able to get the looks they wanted shotting 37-50 for the game from the field. A lack of defensive intensity and execution hurt the Beavers. "If we want to become the team we want and know we can be, we can't take possessions off. We have to compete for everything and that starts and ends on the defensive end of the floor," said Head Coach Steve Kollar. Offensively, the Beavers scored 68 points on 16 assists but were inconsistent with ther execution. Jordan McMillen and Chris Davis led the Beavers in scoring with 12 each. Capital was able to force the Beavers into 24 turnovers on which they capitalized by scoring in transition.

The Beavers come back on Saturday to play Sewanee, the host school, at 3pm. There will be a live video stream of the game, which can be found here. http://portal.stretchinternet.com/sewanee/
