Seniors Play Huge Role in Getting Beavers to 2-0 Start

The Blackburn Beavers Mens Basketball team defeated the St. Scholastica Saints 85-82 in a Non-Conference clash on Friday Evening in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Despite the Beavers having a rough first half including 11 turnovers and giving up 8 offensive rebounds, the Beavers only trailed 36-35. "We just felt like if we stopped hurting ourselves we would be fine" said Coach Kollar "We needed to clean up the offensive glass".

Thats indeed what the Beavers did. The Beavers held the Saints to only got 2 offensive rebounds in the 2nd half and only turned the ball over 4 times. The Beavers took the lead at the 12 minute mark in the second and were able to hold the lead the rest of the way thanks to 4 clutch free throws by Jake Maestranzi in the final minute of play.

The Beavers had 4 seniors in double digits including DeAndre Manuel's 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals.

The Beavers are back in action on Saturday as they take on the Carroll Pioneers in the Tip-Off Classic championship game.
