Beavers fall to Westminister

The Blackburn College Basketball Team dropped a tough conference game against Westminster College by the score of 68-64 at the Dawes Gymnasium in Carlinville on Wednesday night.

The first half started off well for Blackburn as they dominated Westminster on the glass. The Beavers defense was very strong as the Blue Jays seemed to be shaken by the ball pressure. Chris Davis went down for the Beavers in the first half and did not appear again in the game. Blackburn led the Blue Jays 34-24 at the end of the first half.

The second half was evenly matched to the finish. The Beavers fought hard without Davis, but ultimately didn't come up with the plays needed to hold off the strong Blue Jays.  The Blue Jays were led by Tanner Cochran who had 14 points. The Beavers were led by Jake Maestranzi and Willie Orange who both had 14 points. DeAndre Manuel also led the Beavers with eight rebounds.

The Beavers are back in action on Saturday as they take on Webster in St. Louis at 3:00pm.
