The Blackburn College Men's Basketball Team got off to a slow start against the Fontbonne Griffins, racking up a

number of turnovers and missed three-pointers. However, the great rebounding on the defensive

end by Malcolm Scott (32), who finished the game with 15 boards, kept the Beavers in the game until taking control. The momentum shifted in

permanent favor of the home team when Matt Moseley (31) made a body-contorting Eurostep

layup. Then the Beavers received a jump start from the offensive explosion of Reed Rusten (11).

Rusten led the team in points without starting and shot 75% from the floor going nine of twelve.

It was the Rusten's three-point game that put the Beavers ahead and his great consistency

beyond the arc that led the team to a victory. Rusten finished with 26 points, went five of eight from

three-point range and also recorded a block and two steals.

Karson Hayes (2) finished second on the team in points with 15 and he went four of eight from the floor while making six free-throws.

Blackburn college was led in assists by Nigel Ferrell (23) who recorded four while scoring eight.

The Beavers sealed the victory with the clutch free-throw shooting of Duncan King (5). King was

fouled with one point seven seconds on the clock and the home team leading the Griffins

by a score of 80-78. King shot two from the line that hit nothing but net to seal the game and their sixth

conference win of the season.

The Beavers now 10-8 on the season and will play next at Eureka College on January 27 at 3:00 PM.
