Hayes Leads Men's Basketball to First Victory

Blackcburn College senior guard Karson Hayes scored 29 points to lead the Beavers to an 82-75, non-conference victory over St. Louis College of Pharmacy in overtime on Tuesday night in St. Louis.  Hayes scored six of the Beavers ten points in the five minute overtime to give Blackburn their first victory of the season and the first collegiate coaching victory to Head Coach Austin Kirby.

Blackburn led the Eutectics 35-32 at halftime and by as many as twelve in the second half before STLCOP roared back and took a 70-68 lead with 38 seconds left before Hayes tied it with 11 seconds to go to send it into overtime.  Hayes was joined in double figures by Bryson Kirby (14), Nigel Ferrell (12) and Javon Stovall (11) for Blackburn.  

The Beavers shot 46 percent from the field on 29 of 63 shooting which included 10 of 33 from behind the three-point line.  The Eutectics held a commanding 47-30 rebounding edge and were led by Jordan Anderson's 19 points.

Blackburn is now 1-3 on the season and will open conference play at home on Wednesday, December 4 as they host Eureka College.
