Blackburn Wins Iowa Wesleyan Fall Classic

Blackburn Wins Iowa Wesleyan Fall Classic

On October 4th, the Blackburn Men's Golf team traveled to Iowa to take place in the Iowa Wesleyan Fall Classic.  With four teams in the SLIAC conference competing in the tournament, the Beavers wanted to make the most of it and show what they were made.  The weather was perfect scoring conditions with only a slight wind and having rain the night before made the course soft and manageable for high ball hitters.

Freshmen Wiatt Jennings and Senior Jordan McMillen took advantage of the conditions by both finishing inside the top five.  McMillen shot a 74 to finish fifth, and Jennings shot an even par 72 finishing one shot behind the leaders who shot 71.  Senior Kyle Kesinger shot his low round of the fall thus far with a 77 and Junior, Anthony Harper rounded out the team score with a 78.  Blackburn shot a team score of 301.  Also shooting a team score of 301 was conference foe, Iowa Wesleyan University.  The tiebreaker came down to which team had the lowest fifth score that was not taken in the previous team total.  Senior Trenton Easley's 79 bested the Tigers score of 84.  Finishing not far behind in third place was Augustana College with a 303.

The Beavers look to close out the fall golf season when they host their own tournament, Blackburn Invitational, on Saturday, October 14th at Timber Lakes Golf Club in Staunton, Il.
