Beavers Set to Tee Off

With the spring sports getting ready to start, the Blackburn College Men's golf team look to pick up right where they left off in the Fall season.  After ending the fall season with back to back tournament wins in Iowa and at their home tournament in Staunton, Il. the Beavers look to keep the hot streak going, despite the cold winter.  Shooting 301 in Iowa as a team and 311 in Staunton, the team looks to better those scores if they are to have a chance in April to advance to Nationals.  Senior Jordan McMillen said "We have a chance to do something special, so far in the fall, we haven't all been able to score low in the same tournament.  If all five starters get hot, we can be a team to watch out for."  With three seniors on the team, Trenton Easley, Kyle Kesinger, and McMillen, the Beavers look to them to lead by example.  "With us being the older guys, the young guys on the team look up to us to help make an example.  We have played in high pressure situations before and showing the young guys how to handle it" said Easley.

The Beavers will open up their first tournament in Pana, Ill. at a two day tournament on March 3rd and 4th, hosted by Millikin University.  Blackburn will then go on the road to Longview, TX, on March 11th, 12th, and 13th, for the Yellow Jacket Spring Invite.  Following the trip to Texas, the Beavers will head to Jacksonville, Ill. on March 24th and 25th at the Links.  The team will have a short break before they head to Iowa for a one day tournament in Fort Madison, IA on April 3rd.  On April 10th, the Beavers will travel to Galena to take place in the Loras Spring Invite.  Then on April 23rd and 24th, the Beavers will host the SLIAC conference tournament at Timber Lakes Golf Course in Staunton, Ill.  More details for the schedule can be found on the website under the schedules tab.
