Darkness Halts Beavers and Bulldogs in 1-1 Tie

The Blackburn College Men's Soccer Team battled Benedictine University at Springfield in a non-conference soccer match to a 1-1 tie that ended due to darkness with 15:43 remaining in the contest on Wednesday evening in Carlinville.

The physical contest which saw 37 combined fouls and five yellow cards, was scoreless until the 30:33 mark of the first half, when Lucas Rochkes scored on a header from a passed header from Dylan Parkin from a throw-in by Ben Hoover. Parkin and Hoover credited with assists on the goal.  The Beavers took that 1-0 into halftime.  Shortly in the second period the Bulldogs tied the contest on a penalty kick by Giancarlo Faidutti at the 47:39 mark of the contest.

"I'm really proud of our guys, they really got after it! Everyone that stepped on the field gave 100 percent tonight and it was very enjoyable from my view on the sideline, they gave us all I could ask for," said Blackburn Head Coach Rob Steinkuehler.

Blackburn goalkeeper Shane Rogers was outstanding in goal once again for Blackburn as he recorded eleven saves.  Blackburn is now 1-2-1 on the season and will travel to Moberly, Missouri on Saturday for a rematch with Central Christian College of The Bible.  The Beavers defeated the Saints 9-2 on Monday.
