The Blackburn College Men's Soccer team took on Eureka College in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon. The Beavers pulled out a 2-0 victory to improve to 4-2-1. Blackburn has not lost in their last five games.

Shane Rogers(Granite City, Ill.) recorded nine saves including some outstanding diving stops to earn his third win and second shutout of the year.

Blackburn got the scoring going early with a little help from the Red Devils. Sophomore Ben Hoover(Charleston, Ill.) crossed the ball into the box and a Eureka defender knocked it in for an own goal three minutes into the game.

The game remained deadlocked until Eureka committed a foul inside the box that set up a Blackburn penalty kick in the 66th minute. Junior Julian Valencia(Highland, Ill.) placed it into the right corner for his fourth goal of the season.

The Beavers had the shot advantage with a 20-12 margin, but only half of their twenty were on goal while the Red Devils ripped nine shots on goal. Valencia and Jonathon Velaquez(Bolingbrook, Ill.) led Blackburn with four shots.

Blackburn will be in action tomorrow afternoon at Robert Morris-Lake County. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 P.M.
