Blackburn's Season Comes to Close Against Spalding

The Blackburn College Men's Soccer Team couldn't fend off Spalding University on Saturday afternoon. The Beavers lost 5-1 and finished the year with a 6-13 record.

A pregame ceremony filled with memories and laughs celebrated the careers of seniors Dylan Parkin (Athens, Ill.), Shane Rogers (Granite City, Ill.), Julian Valencia (Highland, Ill.), and Brett Becherer (Granite City, Ill.).

The Golden Eagles outshot the Beavers 21-5 in the game. It looked as though Blackburn would be shutout, but Drew Wolfer (Decatur, Ill.) sped past two defensemen and rocketed home a goal late in the second half. Jake Pope (Waggoner, Ill.) earned the assist on the play. good for his team-leading sixth of the year.

Goalkeeper Shane Rogers made six saves in his final game.
