Blackburn on Losing Side of 1-0 Game

By: Vinnie Birk - Blackburn College Sports Information

The Blackburn College Men's Soccer Team saw their short two game win streak come to a close on Sunday afternoon in Carlinville. The Lions of Mount St. Joseph came from Ohio and slipped past the Beavers by a score of 1-0.

The game remained deadlocked until the 51st minute when the Lions' Tyler Schumann buried a loose ball that was dangling around in the box. Mount St. Joseph outshot Blackburn 18-14 in the game. Senior goalie Shane Rogers (Granite City, Ill.) had eight saves.

One of those 14 shots almost knotted up the scoring at one apiece. The ball was saved by the Lions' goalkeeper but it was questionable to wheter the ball stayed over the goal line. Dylan Parkin (Athens, Ill.) and Jake Pope (Waggoner, Ill.) each had three shots for the Beavers.

Blackburn, now 3-6, will host Robert Morris University-Springfield this Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
