Men's Soccer Drops Two Games Over Weekend

The Blackburn Men's Soccer Team fell short twice this weekend, losing by scores of 3-0 and 3-2(OT).

On Friday, the Beavers payed Manchester and played a very solid first half with no scoring for either side. The opposition was firing on all cylinders in the second half and connected for three goals putting the game away.

Blackburn did manage seven shots from seven different players. Goalkeeper Shane Rogers (Granite City, Ill.) saved 9 of 12 shots from Manchester.

They were back in action the following day as the Beavers took on Anderson University in Indiana.

An early goal by Mikey Stephenson (Raymond, Ill.) put Blackburn on the board just four minutes in. Jake Pope (Waggoner, Ill.) had the lone assist on the goal.

Anderson clawed back and eventually took a 2-1 lead. With just three minutes remaining, sophomore Nate Kinnison (Perryville, Mo.) put a clutch goal in the back of the net with help from Austin Isringhausen to knot the score at 2.

In overtime, Anderson wasted no time to knock in a game winner just three minutes in. Rogers had 8 saves in the game on 11 Anderson shots. Blackburn was just as good offensively by firing 9 total shot, 2 each from Kinnison, Stephenson, and Drew Wolfer (Decatur, Ill.).

The Beavers are in action three times this week and all at home. MacMurray (9/11), Lakeland (9/13), and Rockford (9/14) all come to Carlinville to take on the Beavers.
