Men's Soccer Drops Season Opener

Men's Soccer Drops Season Opener

On a very hot and humid afternoon, the Blackburn College Men’s Soccer Team kicked off the 2015 campaign.  The Beavers battled Knox College in a non-conference contest.  The action began early when Knox scored the first goal only 17 seconds into the game to take the 1-0 lead. Blackburn attempted to rally back but struggled with only three shots in the first half.  Knox tallied three more goals late to sit at a comfortable 4-0 lead going into halftime.

In the second half Blackburn was still searching for their first goal.  The offensive struggles continued as the team only managed three more shots in the second half.  Knox eventually scored one more goal to put the game out of reach at 5-0.

It was a very physical contest between the two teams. Blackburn and Knox combined for a total of 24 fouls and three yellow cards.

Blackburn (0-1) will look to rebound this Saturday as they travel to Beloit, Wisconsin to battle Beloit College for another non-conference match.  Start time slated for 1:30 pm.
