Greenville Edges Men's Soccer 2-1

The Blackburn College Men’s Soccer Team squared up with the Panthers of Greenville College in a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Saturday, October 3. A very physical game was played which led to 23 total fouls and a member of each team was given a yellow card. Greenville prevailed over Blackburn in the game by a score of 2-1.

Blackburn took an early lead when junior Nate Kinnison scored on a penalty kick in the 16 minute of the first half. 15 minutes later Greenville’s Edgar Bueno scored to even the score at one. The score remained 1-1 going into halftime. The second half had a slow start as neither team could come up with a scoring opportunity. It wasn’t until the 77 minute that Greenville’s Jacob Jones scored to give the Panthers a 2-1 edge. Blackburn couldn’t answer and fell to Greenville 2-1.

With the loss, the Beavers move to 3-5-2 on the season. They will be back in action on Thursday, October 8 in an away game against St. Louis College of Pharmacy.
