Beavers Fall At Hands Of Own Goal

Beavers Fall At Hands Of Own Goal

It was a back and forth affair on Wednesday afternoon as the Blackburn College Men’s Soccer Team hosted Concordia University-Chicago.  Defense was key for both sides as each team only fired off five shots on goal for the whole match.

Blackburn goalkeeper Jourdin Greene wasn’t exactly busy, but did have several outstanding saves too keep Blackburn in the game.  The game was scoreless at halftime, but at the 40 minute mark, Concordia struck first off of an own goal by Blackburn.

The Beavers were held in check by Concordia for the rest of the match, only getting off five shots after taking eleven in the first half.  The own goal ended up being the only offensive action on the whole afternoon as Concordia walked away with the 1-0 victory.

Blackburn now sits with a record of 2-4-1.  Their next match will be this Saturday at 1:00 pm when the Beavers host MacMurray College for homecoming.
