Men's Soccer Drops Tough 2-1 Decision In the "Back The Blue" Match

The Blackburn College Men"s Soccer Team dropped a tough 2-1 decision to conference opponent Webster University on a rainy saturday afternoon in Carlinville.  The match was dubbed the "Back the Blue" match, where the Beavers recognized members of local law enforcement prior to the start of the game.

The teams played a scoreless first half with very few scoring opportunities on either side.  Webster gained the lead in the 70th minute as David Allred scored a goal with an assist credited to Edin Mehmedovic.  The Gorloks made the score 2-0 at 74:29 with Allred assisting on a Nermin Hajrizi goal.  

Jordan Allen scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season at 86:18 to cut the score to 2-1.  The Beavers were unable to grab another scoring opportunity over the last three and a half minutes to be able to knot the score.

Before the match, members of local law enforcement joined the teams and officials in the center of the field for a moment of silence dedicated to fallen officers followed by the national anthem.

Blackburn is now 3-8-1 on the season while Webster improves to 6-4-2.
