Blackburn Soccer Falls to Spalding University

Blackburn College hosted the Spalding University Golden Eagles for a SLIAC game on Sunday, October 7th, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. With a light breeze and cool temperatures, the Golden Eagles wasted no time, scoring their first of eleven total goals at just the 7 minute mark. The Beavers responded quickly by driving down the field to score, but had their shot blocked by Spalding's goalkeeper, Trevor Massa.

Alex Hamerlinck played an outstanding game at goalkeeper for the Beavers, with 6 saves. The Eagles were able to score 4 goals on Hamerlinck in the first period, however, with a highlight goal made by Spalding's Kornell Hilliard, who had a bicycle kick for a goal. Hilliard had 3 total goals during the game, helping guide his team to victory. Spalding secured the shutout of the Beavers when they scored another 4 goals in under 15 minutes during the second period, with goals coming from Hilliard, Tyler Gore, and Trustun Ashburn.

With this victory, Spalding's overall record improves to 9-2-1, while Blackburn's record now sits at 1-11. The Beavers look ahead to their next game at Webster, which will take place on October 9th, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.
