Men's Soccer Drops Tough Match to Greenville

The Blackburn College Men's Soccer Team battled a tough Greenville University Panther team but fell, 4-2, in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Tuesday afternoon in Carlinville.  The match was originally scheduled for Wednesday but impending bad weather made the decision to play a day early an easy one.

Greenville scored very early in the match as Jared McPeek scored an unassisted goal at 1:59.  The Beavers were able to keep it a one-goal game before tying it on a put-back goal by Jayden Serafini his second of the year with the assist credited to Jordan Leihser who headed the ball in the box before Serafini put it in.  The first half ended 1-1 with Greenville out-shooting Blackburn 20-1.

At 57:30 Greenville took the lead for good as Matt White scored with Adam Jones getting the assist.  At 69:06 Napoleon Urquidi scored on a penalty kick to make the score 3-1 Greenville.  Blackburn rallied late at Jack McGrath drove home a long goal, his second of the year, at 84:31 to cut the lead to 3-2.  Greenville scored less than a minue later at 85:16 as Adam Jones scored with Benn Jane getting the assist.
