Blackburn Celebrates Lone Senior Prince Balaba
Blackburn Men’s Soccer won their SLIAC matchup against Spalding University by the 4-1 on chilly afternoon in Carlinville. This win ties the school record for most wins in a season!
Zibo Siamsipa got the Beavers started early at the 6 minute mark with a goal coming from a beautiful assist from Anthony Coppotelli. The two teams then traded penalty kick goals midway through the first half with goals from Ahmadou Gueye and Justin Atkinson. The Beavers would also add a late goal from Dylan Klunk on an incredible feed from Siamsipa.
The second half was a defensive gem for the Beavers as they shut out the Eagles. At the 74 minute mark, Luke Atkinson gave the Beavers some breathing room with a goal to extend the lead. The score would remain the same with the Beavers putting away their conference rival by the score of 4-1.
Blackburn’s leading shot taker was Siamsipa who attempted seven shots with six being on goal and one goal. The Beavers played a very unselfish game having three assists on four goals. Dawson Klunk played a very solid game in net with 9 saves on 10 shots.
This will conclude the regular season with the conference tournament still being left to play. The Beavers will host Fontbonne University for the play-in game in the tournament on November 2nd in Carlinville, Illinois.
