ANDERSON, IN – Blackburn College Men's Soccer struck first but a late goal by Anderson University gave the Beavers a season-opening tie Friday evening.
Blackburn got on the board when freshman Grant Eugea connected with freshman Brayden Smith off a corner kick in the 68th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Eugea took the kick and got the ball into the air which Smith ran onto and was able to head the ball down into the back of the net. However, with just 4:28 left in the second half the Ravens scored to force a tie.
Eugea, Smith and freshman Johnny Perla all recorded shots on goal during the match. Senior Dawson Klunk finished the match with four saves.
The Beavers return to action Saturday afternoon by visiting Earlham College in another nonconference matchup. The Quakers come into the game after dropping their season opener to Illinois College.
