Softball Drops Two To Wartburg

Softball Drops Two To Wartburg

Story by: Colin Gowin

The Beavers struggled to get the bats going in today’s home double-header against the Knights of Wartburg College. Blackburn accumulated only three hits in both the first game and the second game. Senior, Erica Wilson (O’Fallon, Ill.) pitched both games for Blackburn and Wartburg’s bats were on fire. The Knights combined for a total of 30 hits in the two games. The first game ended in a score of 16-0 and the game ended in a score of 14-1 with Wartburg winning both games. The highlight of the day for Blackburn was freshman, Hannah Goett’s (Springfield, Ill.) home run in the second game. The left-handed hitter put a towering homerun over the right field fence. This marked Goett’s first collegiate career home run.

Blackburn will be back in action again on Friday, March 27 in a home game against St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents from Spalding University. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
