Beavers lose Doubleheader

On Tuesday March 29th, the Blackburn Women's Softball team lost both games of a double header against Missouri Baptist University.  The Beavers lost the first game to the Spartans by a score of 12-3, and the second game of the evening by a score of 10-1.  

                In the first game of the night the Beavers found themselves down early as the Spartans came to bat and after two innings the score was 7-0 in favor of the Spartans.  The Beavers only runs of the game came in the fourth inning when Shannon Clardy and Cazarae Hartman both recorded RBIs in the inning to get the beavers on the board.  The Beavers lost the game by a final score of 12-3. 

                Pitching for the Beavers in the first game of the night was Shannon Clardy.  Clardy pitched 4 innings gave up 8 hits on 11 runs in which 4 of the runs were earned.  Clardy struck out 2 batters on the night while giving up 3 homers. 

                In the second game of the night, the Beavers again found themselves down early after giving up two runs in the top of the first inning.  In the bottom of the first, the Beavers got on the board with one run.  After the first inning however, the Beavers were unable to score for the rest of the game as the Spartans piled on the runs scoring two runs in the second, four runs in the third, and added two runs in the seventh. 

                Pitching for the Beavers was Jensen Ballinger who pitched 3 innings, gave up 9 hits, and 8 earned runs.  She walked two batters and gave up one home run. 

                The Beavers next game will be Wednesday, March 30th against St. Louis College of Pharmacy.  It will a double header with the first game set to start at 5 pm, and the second game to start at 7 pm.
