Beavers Sweep Rival Highlanders for First Conference Wins

Carlinville, Illinois – The Blackburn Beavers swept the MacMurray Highlanders for their first two conference wins of the season. 

Blackburn and MacMurray are two of three teams that have been in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference the longest. With a total of 27 years in this conference, these teams have met in 59 games. In the overall series, Blackburn leads 31-28. The playing field was even, and both teams were in search of their first win. Over the last 3 double headers, the Highlanders had the advantage 5-1. However, this would not stop the beavers from coming out and taking the sweep.

In the sweep, the Beavers defeated the Highlanders: 9-1 (5 innings) and 10-2 (6 innings). The team came together and put forth an effort that prevailed them past the opposing team to win.
