The Blackburn College Softball team is coming off of a head turning 2017 campaign and only looks to improve with the newest nine members to the team.
Joining the Beavers this season will be three transfers, and six freshmen. This will add a variety of expereince to the roster.
Halle Fransen- Pitcher, 1B, OF (Pearl City, IL/Pearl City/Highland CC)
Halle brings 2 years of JUCO experience at Highland Community College to the team. She can pitch, play either corner, or the outfield, and brings a solid bat to our upcoming season.
Mercedez Morgan- Utility (Taylorville, IL/Taylorville/Lincoln College)
Mercedez has played the last 2 years at Lincoln College and is an extremely versatile player. This former all conference HS player adds depth to our infield and outfield.
Baylee Hughes- Pitcher, Utility (Carlinville, IL/Carlinville/St. Gregory’s College)
Baylee transferred in from St. Gregory’s College in Oklahoma. She can pitch, play a solid SS, and will bring a nice bat to the lineup.
Brooke Daniels- Pitcher, 3B (Lapel, IN/Lapel)
Brooke is a freshman pitcher, with a huge upside, plus a corner infielder from Lapel, Indiana. Additionally, she is a power hitter. We’re hoping she can provide us with a ton of RBI’s.
Kennedy Henson- Utility (Centralia, IL/ Centralia)
Kennedy is an extremely versatile defender, capable of playing anywhere in the field. She possesses good speed, as well. This Centralia Orphan Annie will be a big part of the next 4 years.
Emmily Cato- Catcher/Utility (Sparta, IL/Sparta)
Emmily is an all-conference HS recruit from Sparta, who brings in multiple years of summer travel ball experience. She can play anywhere, and adds speed to our lineup.
Allison Kromray- Utility (Troy, IL/Triad)
AK is a Troy Triad product, who can do it all. She has been part of the Black Widow summer organization for several years and was an all-conference HS player.
Athena Mata- Catcher, 3B (Decatur, IL/MacArthur)
Athena is a catcher, corner infielder from Decatur MacArthur HS, with 3 years of varsity experience. Her personality has allowed her to become one of the most popular players on the team.
Briahna Whelan- OF (Prairie du Rocher, IL/Red Bud)
Bri comes to us from Red Bud, with multiple years of varsity experience. She is an outfielder, who possesses great leg speed, and base running ability.
