Beavers drop Two Against Blue Jays

On April 13th, the Blackburn College Softball team played against the Westminster College Blue Jays in a competitive double header.  In the first game, the pitching was on excellent display early on in the contest as neither team scored a run for the first three innings.  In the top of the fourth, the Blue Jays found two runs and never looked back as they would find 7 more runs in the next two innings to defeat the Beavers 9-0 in the first game.  In the second game, once again pitching was in command as Bailee Zemlanek of Westminster College and Tessa Beckham of Blackburn squared off.  Neither pitcher gave up a run until the sixth inning as the Blue Jays found two runs in the top of the sixth and the Beavers had one run cross the plate in the bottom of the sixth.  In the bottom of the seventh, the Beavers had a shot to tie the game with runners at the corner and two outs, but were unable to take advantage as the Blue Jays won the second game by a score of 2-1 over Blackburn.

The Beavers will be back in action on the road as they travel to Principia College on Thursday April 18th.  First pitch will start at 6 pm.
