Blackburn College Senior Forward Shelby Smith has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Smith, a senior forward from Jerseyville, (Jersey Community High School), she put together back to back 20-point games last week. Against Webster University on January 29, Smith scored 21 points, on 7-of-9 shooting, and added six rebounds and two blocked shots. Two days later she scored 23 points and had six rebounds in a 75-70 win over Westminster College. On the week Smith averaged 22.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Smith joins teammate Ciara Morgan as players of the week. Morgan was named to that honor twice earlier in the season.
