Webster Snaps Blackburn's Win Streak

The Blackburn College Women's Basketball Team lost a 79-62 game in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play to the Gorloks of Webster University on Tuesday, January 14. The Beavers were down for the majority of the game but never out of the game. Foul trouble played a huge role in how Blackburn played. Turnovers were also huge in this game as the Beavers recorded 28 and Webster had only 19.

At the half, Blackburn trailed Webster 32-24 but continued to battle. To end the first half, junior Briana Rae had already recorded a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds. In the second half Ciara Morgan, who had only two points going into the half, scored 15 more to give her 17 on the night. The Beavers were out-scored in the second half by a score of 47-38.

Blackburn was led by juniors Briana Rae and Ciara Morgan. Rae put up 22 points and came down with 18 boards. Ciara Morgan scored 17 points and also recorded eight rebounds. The Beavers shot a respectable 23-52 from the field but only 1-11 from behind the 3-point line.

With this loss, the Blackburn Women's Basketball Team moves to 3-10 and 2-4 in conference. Webster moves to 7-5 and 4-1 in conference. Blackburn is scheduled to play again on Saturday, January 18 at Westminster College in Fulton, Missour. Tipoff is at 3:00 PM.
