Women's Basketball Struggles at Greenville

The Blackburn College Women's Basketball Team traveled to Greenville, Ill. for a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup against Greenville College on Dec. 12. Coming into the game, Blackburn was 1-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference and Greenville was 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

The first half saw a high powered Greenville offense take control of the game early and never look back. As a team Greenville shot an impressive 50 percent from the field (16-32), while holding Blackburn to only 35 percent (10-28). Blackburn went to the locker room at the half trailing 43-23.

The second half was the same story as the first, as Greenville continued their hot shooting and lockdown defense. Greenville shot 42 percent on the game and forced 17 Blackburn turnovers. Blackburn shot only 26 percent from the field in the game and forced 12 turnovers. The game ended with Greenville on top 71-32

Blackburn's top performer was Angela Andrews who scored eight points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked two shots. With the loss Blackburn moves to 1-7 overall and 1-2 in the conference. The Beavers will play again on Dec. 19 in a home contest against nonconference opponents from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
