Beavers lose a Tough One at Home

On Saturday January 23rd the Blackburn Women's Basketball team found themselves on the losing end of a tough game by losing to the Fontbonne University Griffins by a final score of 90-75.  The Griffins used a strong third quarter to gain separation from the Beavers by outscoring the Beavers 32-21.  The Beavers fought hard the entire game but struggled to take care of the ball committing 29 total turnovers.

Leading the Beavers in scoring was Danae Smith who totaled 18 points.  Also scoring in double figures for the Beavers was Candace Pollock who had 15 points, Elisabeth Johnston also had 15, and rebounding out the scoring for the Beavers was Aleisha Stiltner who had 11 points.  Leading the Beavers in rebounding was Elisabeth Johnston who grabbed 8 rebounds.  Leading the Beavers in assists was senior Danae Smith with 5 assists.  The Beavers shot 41.4% from the field, 23.1% from 3 point land, and shot 70.6% from the free throw line.

Leading the Griffins in scoring was DeAmbra  Pilkinton who scored a game high 23 points.  Also scoring in double figures was Nicole Joerger who had 15 points, Emily Haring with 14 points, and Erika Kuhn with 12 points.  Leading the Griffins in rebounds was Emily Haring and Olivia Holiander who both had 6 rebounds.  Leading the Griffins in assists was Emily Haring with 9 assists.  The Griffins shot 53.2% from the field, 50.0% from the 3 point line, and 76.9% from the free throw line.

The Beavers next game will take place on Wednesday, January 27th at MacMurray College with a tip off time set for 6 pm.
