The Blackburn College Women’s Basketball Team hosted The Millikin University Big Blues in a non-conference matchup Wednesday evening.  It was a tough evening for the Beavers, who were bested by the Big Blues 66-37.

The Beavers were facing a major deficit early on as Millikin exploded out to a 25-5 lead in the first quarter. 

However Blackburn made an adjustment to finish the quarter and went on a 7-5 run.  Blackburn tightened up their defense for the rest of the game, not allowing Millikin to score 20 in a single quarter for the rest of the night.

The Beavers shut the Big Blue down in the fourth quarter, holding them to only four points.  Unfortunately the big run back in the first quarter was too much to come back from, thus ending Blackburn’s night with a loss.

Angela Andrews led the way for Blackburn with team highs in both points and rebounds with nine each.  Danique Smith added eight points off the bench as well.

The Beavers now sit 0-5 and will travel to Fontbonne University this Wednesday at 6:00 pm.
