The Beavers fell against the St. Mary of the Woods Pomeroys 95 to 87 in a back and forth game that went down to the final minutes. Unfortunately for Blackburn, the Pomeroys were able to ice the game by hitting two key three-pointers in the final four minutes of play. The Beavers were led by Maria Cline (2) and Gariel Pierce (25) with both players recording a double-double.

The game was back and forth from the tip-off with the home team coming out strong to start. The Pomeroys answered, though, and led 22-21 at the end of the first quarter. Blackburn College responded with a rally of their own and took a 44-43 lead at the half. The lead exchanged hands multiple times in the third quarter, but St. Mary's strong deep range shooting gave them an edge in the quarter and they led the Beavers by four with a score of 66-62 to start the fourth. The fourth quarter saw the home team gain momentum and take a lead. However, the Pomeroys answered yet again to pull away for good in the closing minutes.

Blackburn College was led in points by Cline with 15, and she also recorded a steal, ten rebounds, and three assists. The home team was led in rebounds by Pierce with 17, and she also scored 16, and got a block. The team leader in blocks was Kate Smith (12) who had two blocks in addition to scoring nine and tying for the team lead in assists with six. The Beavers steal leader Jenna Dudra (23) showcased her thieving abilities on the defensive end yet again by recording a team high eight steals while tying Smith with six assists and scoring 16 points.

The Beavers play again on Wednesday, February 7 @ Greenville.
