Beavers Lose to Gorloks 91-58

The Beavers took on the Gorloks of Webster today and lost by a wide margin as the Gorloks never trailed in the game and pulled away from Blackburn quickly. The Gorloks led by 15 at the conclusion of the first quarter and continued to build upon that lead in the second quarter to go into haltime with the score at 45-19. The visiting Webster team were headed by Addison Beussink (21) who was a nightmare for the Beaver defense in the paint. She recorded 16 points by going 7 of 10 from the field and making 2 free throws. She also added 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks while not turning the ball over a single time. Beussink's day outshone the great game from Jenna Dudra (23) a Beaver guard. She had a game-high 21 points on 9 of 14 shooting from the floor and going 3 for 3 at the line. She also had no turnovers and added 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal. However, her day was the one bright light for the home team. The Gorloks only forced 3 more turnovers than than Beavers (19-16). However, the home team was only able to score on a single Webster turnover to generate a total of 2 points off of the 16 turnovers. The visitors capitalized on a majority of the home team's turnovers and recorded 25 points off of the Beavers 19 turnovers. The Gorloks dominated the glass and won the board battle by 13 rebounds (40-27). On the offensive end, Blackburn was able to get good pressure on their opponents. Unfortunately for the Beavers, Webster was able to consistently knock down contested shots or turn to Beussink to bully her way to the rim in the paint. They finished the day by making 52.2% of the shots they took (36 for 69). In addition, while the visitors only forced 3 more turnovers, they attempted 17 more shots because of their ability to own the paint offensively. They won the offensive rebound battle by 9 and their ability to control the game inside the offensive arch were the real differences in this game.
