Beavers Suffer Fourth Straight Loss as Eureka Wins 77-65

Freshman Olivia Falls set a career high with 17 points as Eureka took 77-65 SLIAC women's basketball victory over Blackburn Thursday afternoon.
 
The win upped the Red Devils record to 9-10 overall and 4-7 in SLIAC play. Blackburn, meanwhile, dropped to 4-16 overall and 1-11 in league play after suffering its fourth straight loss.
 
Falls, who posted her ninth double digit-point effort of the season, made 6 of 11 field goal attempts and sank 5 of 5 free throws to lead Eureka past BC.
 
Samantha Sarnes converted 7 of 12 field goals en route to a 16-point double-double effort while Kennedy Dura also chipped in 16 points, six assists, five steals, and four rebounds.
 
Blackburn was led by freshman forward Callista Francis (Fredericktown, Missouri / Fredericktown), who tallied 17 points on 80 percent shooting from the field and 1 for 1 at the free throw line. Sophomore guard Savannah Kruse (Lake St. Louis, Missouri / Liberty) added 16 points to go along with six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  
 
Key Moment: Eureka never trailed in the contest, surging out to a 47-29 lead in the first half on the strength of 12 points from Sarnes, who hit 5 of 7 shots from the field during the opening 20 minutes.
