Women's Basketball Drops Pair of Games at Texas Tournament

The Blackburn College Women's Basketball Team travelled to Texas over the Christmas Holiday to play a pair of non-conference games. On December 28 the Beavers took on East Texas Baptist University and fell by a score of 90-63. The Beavers were led in scoring by Savannah Kruse who scored 22 points.  Kruse was named to the all-tournament team.

Blackburn fell behind 19-10 after one quarter and 52-29 at halftime.  Turnovers plagued the Beavers as they had 28 on the game.  Jenna Dudra added 15 points and Maria Cline added ten to join Kruse in double figures.

The next afternoon, Blackburn dropped their final game on the trip by a score of 84-53 to LeTourneau University.  Kruse scored 12 points in that contest but the leading scorer for the Beavers was Cline who had 17 points. Blackburn was badly out-rebounded in this contest by a 68-40 mark.

LeTourneau got off to a 22-8 lead after one quarter and stayed in control for the whole contest.  The Beavers chances to get back in the game were hindered by their three-point shooting as they shot just 20 percent on 3 of 15 shooting.

Blackburn is now 3-6 on the season and will return to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on January 4th as they host the Tigers of Iowa Wesleyan University.
