Women's Basketball Takes Season Opener

Savannah Kruse scored a game-high 23 points to help lead the Blackburn College Women's Basketball Team to a season opening 73-67 victory over Alverno College in the Blue Angels Tip-Of tournament hosted by Mt. Mary University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.


The Beavers trailed 32-27 at halftime and 45-43 after three quarters before lighting the 4th quarter up with 30 points to take the victory.

Lexie Black (15), Maria Cline (13), and Jenna Dudra (11) joined Kruse in double figures.  For the game, Blackburn shot 40 percent from the field but in the decisive 4th quarter, Blackburn was 7 of 12 from the field and 16 of 20 from the free throw line.  Blackburn out-rebounded Alverno 50-39 but committed 20 turnovers compared to just 14 for Alverno.

The Beavers take on the host Blue Angels of Mt. Mary on Saturday night at 5:00 p.m.
