On a chilly and windy Homecoming Weekend, the Blackburn College Women's Soccer team hosted the Fontbonne University Griffins. The game ended with the Beavers on the losing side of a 1-0 score.

The Griffins were on the attack the entire game compling a total of 35 shots. Nicole Kelly (St. Louis, Mo.) and her defensive backs managed to keep the Fontbonne attackers at bay. Kelly had a whopping 21 saves and kept the game within reach. She now expands her conference lead in saves which is now at 105. Her goals against average sits at 1.22, good for third in the SLIAC among goalkeepers.

The defense was busy all day for the Beavers. Alexis Richie (Carlinville, Ill.), Emma Witte (Festus, Mo.), Christy Hobbs (Highland, Ill.), and Mary Chamberlain (Johnsburg, Ill.) had their backs against the wall but were up to the challenge.

Blackburn did not manage a shot on goal in the game and are now 5-7 on the year and 0-2 in conference play. Both conference losses have come by only one goal. The Beavers will play at Greenville College this Wedneday at 5:00 PM.
